오늘도 좋은 표현 배워갑니다.
기억해 뒀다 꼭 써먹을게요.^^
4번 보고 갑자기 생각났는데요,
cry me a river 라는 표현 있잖아요.그게 원래 뜻과는 별개로
상대방이 처한 상황이 자신의 상황에 비하면 새발의 피다…뭐 그런 의미로
엄살 부리지 말라는 의미로도 쓰인다고 들은 것 같은데
정말 그렇게 사용하기도 하는지 궁금합니다.
항상 유익한 강의와 친절한 설명 감사합니다.
늦여름 건강 잃지 않게 조심하세요~
Hi, thanks for stopping by the site!
Yes, you’re right. The expression is used to belittle or degrade the plight of another.
Some similar expressions would be, “Oh, that’s nothing!” Or “What’s all the fuss about?”
It basically means that you don’t feel pity for the other person because their suffering, in your eyes, doesn’t really seem to be a very big deal.
This phrase is also used when someone refuses to accept the explanation or excuse of provided another.
Hope that helps!

Thanks so much for the kind message!
So you found the site on YouTube and then transferred over to the podcast? That’s rare. Most people begin with the podcast. Anyhow, I’m glad to hear the YouTube videos are gaining in popularity. Let me know if you have any special requests

Yes, I suppose the meaning of “win” here is more like “satisfy.”
It is an interesting idiom, isn’t it?
