2. (전원선 등을) 꽂아: to plug in (전원선 등을) 빼: to unplug 예문: Would you please unplug my laptop?

6. 꽃이 피어 있다: The flowers are in bloom. 곷이 피고 있다: The flowers are blooming.

• Soon the cherry blossoms will be blooming all across the country.

7. Spring has sprung: 봄이 왔다. A: The smell of spring is in the air. What a lovely day! B: Yep, spring has finally sprung.

• A: I’m starting to feel listless and fatigued.
• B: It looks like spring has sprung.

8. Foodie: 미식가. A: Do you know of any good restaurants around here? B: No, not really. Why don’t you ask John? He’s a real foodie.

• A: I love finding the best restaurants in town.

남들의 과도한 신체적 접촉에 대해서 ‘It gave me goose bumps’를 쓰면 매우 이상할 거고 대신 아래 표현을 쓰시면 돼요.

Rarely used to mean “해야 하다,” except in formal speech.
“Have to” is used conversationally, while “must” is used in essays and other formal writing.

“Must” used to express a guess

You must be exhausted. (힘 다 빠졌겠어요.)
You must be so relieved. (마음이 놓이시겠어요/안심되시겠어요)
You must have let out a sigh of relief at the news that he was safe.
과거형으로
You must’ve been so disappointed.

3. 앱에 따라 다르지만 설치한 뒤 ‘+’ 나 ‘add feed’라는 단추가 보일 거예요. 그걸 누르고 검색창에다가 ‘englishinkorean’을 치고 ‘구독’을 누르시면 돼요.

유튜브 채널 구독:

애플과 안드로이드 기기에 YouTube 앱이 있어요.
그 앱 안의 검색창에 ‘englishinkorean’을 치시면 제 채널이 나와요. 거기서 구독하면 나중에 다시 검색할
필요 없이 앱만 열면 바로 새로운 강의 동영상을 볼 수 있습니다.

그러나 음성 파일(EiK 팟캐스트)은 유튜브로 들을 수 없습니다. 다루는 내용을 보면서 듣고 싶으면 언제나 휴대폰 인터넷 브라우저 통해서 이 사이트로 와서 ‘Podcast’ 페이지에서 방송을 틀어놓고 ‘해당 자료’ 링크 따라가서 보는 게 제일 편하실 겁니다.

2.정말 아깝다: What a waste! 정말 아쉽다: What a shame!

• It’s such a shame he had to leave so soon.

3. Gaffe: 실수

• That reporter is always apologizing after his on-air gaffes. I’m sick of the lack of professionalism in local news.

4. Hot mic: 켜진 마이크

• President Barack Obama sought to make light of a hot mic gaffe at the Nuclear Security Summit in Seoul.

5. To mean a lot to someone: 누군가에게 정말 고마운 일이다.

• Why don’t you give your mom a call? It would mean a lot to her.

6. By any means necessary: 어떻게 해서 라도, 반드시

• A: Get their signatures on this contract by any means necessary!
• B: You got it, boss.

7. Over my dead body!: 내 눈에 흙이 들어가기 전에는 안 돼!

• A: Please, can I just go on one date with your sister? We’d make a great couple.
• B: Over my dead body!

8. Kudos: 축하하다

• A: Kudos on the new job, man. That’s great!
• B: Thanks, but don’t expect me to buy you dinner or anything. I’m still poor.

9. To play phone tag: (어떤 사람하고) 전화가 계속 어긋나다. ‘Tag’이라는 것은 술래잡기와 비슷한 놀이입니다. 이 놀이에서 계속 번갈아 술래가 되는 것처럼 전화가 왔다갔다 하니까 비유적으로 쓰는 말입니다.

10. To have a falling-out: 사이 나빠지다
