Let’s look at a few phrasal verbs with “make”
동사구 “Make up” 여러가지 뜻이 있습니다.
1. They made up that story
그들은 그 이야기를 지어냈다.
2. They made up after their fight
그 둘은 싸운 후에 다시 화해했다
3. They will have a lot of make-up work to do after they get back
그 들은 여행이 끝난 뒤 보충할 것이 (과제, 일) 많을 것이다
4. I was late, but I made up for it by working hard.
난 지각을 했지만 열심히 일하는 걸로 대신했다. (보답, 보상)
5. She got (all) made up for the party.
그녀는 파티에 가려고 화장을 했다.

“Made it”은 원래 “어디에 (간신히) 도착했다”라는 뜻인데 비유적으로 많은 고생을 한 후 결국 성공했을 때 쓸 수 있습니다. 또한 누군가 지각하거나 어떤 모임에 안 나올 줄 알았던 사람이 나타났을 때 “Wow! He made it” 라고 하면 됩니다 .
따라서 몸이 아파서 한 동안 고통 속에서 살다가 죽었다면 “He didn’t make it.”이라고 쓸 수 있겠습니다.
1. He didn’t make it through the night.
“어제 밤에 돌아가셨다”
또 수술 중에 환자가 죽으면 의사가 유족한테 이 슬픈 소식을 전할 때 많이 쓰는 표현은 바로 “I’m so sorry. He didn’t make it” 입니다
한국어에서 ‘죽다’라는 표현이 조금 강하게 느낄 수 있는 것처럼 영어에서도 ‘die’ 라는 동사는 소중한 사람에 대해서 언급할 때 피하는 게 좋습니다.
예를 들면 “Your father died last weekend?”라고 하지 않고 “Your father passed away last weekend?” 하면 훨씬 좋죠.
자 그럼 표현을 정리해볼까요?
1. We made it
우리가 이겼어! (해냈어!)
2. He made it
“그는 성공했다” 또는 “(그 사람이) 왔네”
3. I won’t be able to make it tomorrow.
내일 참석 못 할 것 같아요

she got made up for the party. 문장에서요 she got make up for the party. 하면 틀린 건가요??

Actually both expressions are okay, but they have different meanings. “She got made up for the party,” means that she put on her make-up and did her hair to get ready for the party. If you say “She got make-up for the party,” that would mean that she bought cosmetics to put on for the party.
