1. 답답하다 It’s stifling, It’s stuffy

Summers in Korea are so humid. It’s really stifling

2. 얽매여있다 / 구속되다 I feel tied down, I feel trapped

My girlfriend insists on being with me 24-7, I feel really trapped.
I feel so tied down where I’m working now.

3. 불쌍하다 Pitiful, Oh poor – , Don’t you feel sorry for –

My girlfriend dumped me today, plus I missed the last bus home.
Don’t you feel sorry for me?
Oh poor me.

(not) I’m so poor

4. 피장파장이다 Now we’re even, this makes us even
You bought me a coffee yesterday so I’ll pick up this taxi ride and then we’ll be even.

5. 푹 빠지다 Be really into – , Be obsessed with –

He’s really into Star Wars so his friends call him a “dork.”
He’s really not that into you, I think you need to move on.

6. 펑크 내다 / 바람 맞히다 To stand someone up

You really shouldn’t stand people up like that. It’s bad manners.
She was always standing me up so I decided to call it quits

7. 바람 피우다 To cheat on someone

Why did you break up with her? I thought you two made a great couple
I found out she was cheating on me with my best friend.
